Bristol based, but also working nationally and internationally, Dr Anna Farthing works to commission as a writer, director, producer and consultant for those wishing to engage with drama in museum education, theatre and media. Anna can be engaged as an individual freelancer, or for larger projects through her company Harvest Heritage Arts and Media. A specialist in creative active learning, she also has a PhD from Manchester University in engaging the public with difficult and sensitive histories through drama and this has led to opportunities to present her research and professional practice at international conferences, and as a visiting lecturer to university students. Anna joined the board of IMTAL Europe in 2006 and was Chair from 2009 to 2012. She stood down at the 2012 AGM in order to focus on her own projects. Clients have included: Conservatoire for Dance and Drama (www.cdd.ac.uk). Research consultancy for eight leading schools of dance, drama and circus. Bristol Museums, Galleries and Archives. Interim Head of Learning and producer of the M Shed launch programme Manx National Heritage, creative consultancy and training for Labyrinth, Castle Rushen Unlocked and First World War projects. Peoplescape Theatre/Peoples History Museum, Manchester. Collaboration with Emily Capstick supporting the development of her performance piece, "Pauly's War". National Museum of the Royal Navy, Royal Naval Museum Portsmouth. Work on the Hear My Story gallery, interpreting the stories of veterans and naval families. Previously, "Remembrance Kit Bags" - A Digital media project shortlisted for the Clore Museum Learning Award 2011. Also, audio and video for the Chasing Freedom gallery about slavery and abolition. Bristol Museums, Galleries and Archives "Peopling the Georgian House" creating an audio drama based educational resource, and hosting creative community consultation events for the new Museum of Bristol Recalling Robeson in Bristol - a festival of performances, exhibitions, workshops and online media about the life and legacy of Paul Robeson.
